How recommendations are made

Useful first. Clear about evidence. Honest about limits.

Who writes the guides

I’m Nikki, and I write every guide. My background in swimming, water polo, lifeguarding, coaching, and teaching helps me spot the questions that matter. Medical care and individualized training still belong with qualified professionals who know the swimmer.

How I compare products

I start with fit, intended use, current specifications, applicable rules, availability, and tradeoffs. I only call a product “tested” when I have first-hand testing to support that claim.

Where facts come from

I use manufacturers for specifications, governing bodies for competition rules, and recognized health and sport organizations for safety or technique guidance. Every guide lists its sources so you can check them.

Affiliate links

Amazon and SwimOutlet affiliate links are clearly marked. A possible commission never decides whether a product is included, and I don’t use retailer prices, ratings, reviews, or product photos as proof that something is worth buying.

Corrections

Spot something that needs fixing? Send the page and a reliable source to nikki@thesavvyswimmer.com. When the guidance changes, the article’s update date changes with it.

Keeping guidance current

Product details, competition rules, and safety guidance change. I revisit affected guides when a manufacturer, governing body, or health source publishes an update.
