Editorial standards
Useful first. Specific about evidence. Honest about limits.
Authorship
Every launch article names Nikki and shows when it was last updated. Nikki’s swimming, water polo, lifeguarding, coaching, and teaching background guides the editorial questions; it is not inflated into professional-athlete or medical expertise.
Buyer guides
Commercial pages are researched buyer guides, not hands-on reviews. Selection criteria emphasize fit, intended use, current specifications, governing rules, availability, and limitations. The word “tested” requires documented first-hand evidence.
Sources
Primary sources are preferred: manufacturers for specifications, governing bodies for competition rules, and public-health or recognized sport organizations for safety and technique. Sources appear on the page.
Affiliate independence
The site uses Amazon affiliate links only. Commission eligibility does not decide whether an item is included, and no price, rating, customer review, or Amazon-owned image is copied onto the site.
Corrections
Readers can send a correction with evidence to nikki@thesavvyswimmer.com. Substantive corrections change the visible update date and the affected guidance.
Review schedule
Review dates are tracked editorially without cluttering the article header. Rule-sensitive, health-adjacent, and product-dependent pages are prioritized when an official source changes.
